M.E. Power Electronics and Drives

About the Program

The Power Electronics and Drives Program was started in the year 2012 under the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) with the goal to master the efficient conversion and precise control of electrical energy through advanced semiconductor technology and intelligent drive systems

Program Structure

M.E -Power Electronics and Drives is a full-time, two-year Program. It acts as a bridge between three major engineering fields: power engineering, electronics, and control systems

Software & Labs

These laboratories are outfitted with a wide range of software to meet the needs of the students and satisfy the curriculum mandated by the connected university.

Technical Domain & Applications

The Program primarily deals with high-power applications. Developing circuits to change electricity from one form to another, such as AC to DC (rectifiers), DC to AC (inverters), DC to DC (choppers), and AC to AC (cycloconverters). Studying the control of electric motors (both AC and DC) to regulate their speed, torque, and position with high precision.

The Power Electronics and Drives Program prepares students to solve modern energy challenges, making it a critical field for anyone interested in the future of green energy, electric mobility, and advanced industrial systems.

Vision

To emerge as a center of excellence providing enlightening education and nurturing professionals in Electrical and Electronics Engineering with integrity and innovation.

Mission

To facilitate quality learning blended with practical engineering skills, preparing students to achieve all-around competitiveness in the global arena.

To motivate both faculty and students to engage in impactful research that addresses societal needs, thereby fostering innovation, ethical responsibility, and sustainable technological advancement.
